Box City Program

We enjoy the exciting ways that are youth are taught about 'real life'.  This is an exciting way that Noblesville is teaching a group of third and fourth graders at Promise Road Elementary.

October is National Planning Month, which gives the Noblesville Planning Department will host a program called Boxed City to Promise Road Elementary.  Students will work with Planning Department and other city staff to construct 'buildings' our of boxes and then design and construct cities from those buildings.

Students will earn about the steps necessary to construct the buildings and cities in real life such as permits, zoning issues, architecture and design procedures and more.  The third graders will be responsible for constructing the buildings according to the standards of the City of Noblesville and the fourth graders will determine the master layout of the city.

Students from Ball State University's Graduate Program in Urban Planning will be observing and assisting the Box City program and will share the ideas and results of Noblesville's program with other communities in Indiana.
