Bike to Work Day, May 16th

The City of Carmel is celebrating National Bike Month on Friday, May 16th as National Bike to Work Day.  Residents are encouraged to use Bikeways and multi-use paths or park vehicles at the Monon Community Center and ride to work form there.

The Monon Community Center along with Commuter Connect, Whole Foods Market, the City of Carmel and the Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free continental breakfast from 6-9 am for those participating in Bike To Work Day.

Communities across the country are asked each year to celebrate May as National Bicycling Month by the League of American Bicyclists.  Bicycling is the most energy-efficient form of travel ever devised and can accommodate almost any level of fitness.  It also helps reduce air, water and noise pollution.  Studies show that  more than half of all Americans live less than five miles from their place of work, a reasonable distance to bike for people in average physical shape.
