With the price of gas rising, more people are turning to electric cars to get around. But finding places to charge them up while on the road can be challenging.
Hamilton County is looking to help out weary and drained travelers in need of a recharge.
Two locations are making it easier: The Palladium and Hamilton Town Center.
The Palladium in Carmel is a state-of-the-art concert hall that delivers sweet sounds to the audience. But there are two new state-of-the-art devices deliver something else. Duke Energy has installed two electric car charging stations in the garage of the Center of the Performing Arts.
"This cuts down tailpipe emissions right here and will help our air quality and provide, I think, a good service to people," said Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard.
Brainard said the charging stations were just installed and should be ready to juice up an electric car in a couple of weeks.
"So if somebody drives to work and needs a charge, we want to make sure that was available, so Duke has put these in at their expense," Brainard said.
The Carmel Palladium is just one of several electric car stations popping up in Hamilton County. Over at Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville there are three stations already up and running.
Duke Energy said right now the stations are free while they test the use of customer behavior.
